Grace Class Modules

Every Thursday from January-June and September-November at 7pm, Pastor Daniel L. Arter teaches a class meant to train our members (and members of other local churches) to grow in their knowledge of theology and apologetics (the defense of the faith). These classes are on a 5-year rotation and are listed on this page with brief descriptions.

This page will be updated with more details as we continue in the process of adding modules to our Grace Class curriculum.

  • Hermeneutics is the study of how to interpret the Bible. Every person who reads the Bible has a hermeneutic (even if they don’t realize it). This class exists to help develop your ability to interpret Scripture utilizing a Christ-centered Historical-Grammatical approach.

  • Apologetics is the study of how to defend the Christian faith. In this class, we’ll be talking about different methods of apologetics before discussing how to integrate apologetics into our evangelistic and discipleship programs and efforts.

  • In the Great Commission, Jesus commands His disciples to go and make more disciples. Part of the process of making more disciples includes the process of evangelism, which is the practice of proclaiming the Gospel to other people. This class will help you develop your theology of evangelism while teaching you common methods to evangelize.

  • In the Great Commission, Jesus commands His disciples to go and make more disciples. Part of the process of making more disciples includes the process of discipleship, which is the practice of helping a new believer grow in the ordinary means of grace as they mature spiritually. This class will teach you how to disciple a new believer.

  • Throughout church history, there have been approximately 45,000 denominations with about 200 of them represented in the United States. This class attempts to give a brief history of denominations before explaining the differences between different denominations in the United States. Special attention will be given to denominations represented in our local communities. This class will explain where exactly we fit in the denominational world as Reformed Baptists affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.
